TO OBTAIN RINGS
Ring order forms are supplied when the current year's membership fee is received. Forms will be included with their first Year Book.
Ring forms are available from January. Should anyone require the form before the end of February posting, they are asked to provide a S.A.E. The ring scheme operates on a non-commission basis with members paying a
discounted price for their rings.
Before ordering.
Members are asked to check their code on the ring order form with the Year Book listing or the label on their envelope.
FOR THE BENEFIT OF NEW MEMBERS
Split Coded Rings:
These are supplied in an open position and can be fitted to any bird at any age. They can be closed by squeezing the ring between the fingers.
Closed Coded Rings:
These can only be fitted whilst the bird is in the nest. Apply the closed ring when the chicks are seven or eight days old, or when they excrete over the side of the nest and when the hen is no longer cleaning out the nest. Place the ring over the three front toes, pass over ball of foot and up the leg until the back toe is released.
Members' names and addresses together with their International Ring Code are printed in the August hand book. As previously stated, the ring order forms are sent with the first Year Book in March, but forms are available January.
As the Association does not operate it's ring scheme on a commission basis (members pay the NET PRICE for rings). A self addressed envelope is required should a form be needed prior to March or at other times of the year when a Year Book is not due for posting.
